Santu is about two things: exceptional coffee and transparent relationships.
We’ve lived and worked on coffee farms for years, so we know what it takes to produce amazing coffee. We also know that there are too many intermediaries in the market, driving the final costs up whilst underpaying the farmers.
We’re bridging that divide, buying and importing green coffee direct from award-winning farms in Brazil and roasting here in Edinburgh. Ask us for samples, or stop by our workshop in Leith - roast some beans with us, lie in the hammock and enjoy a perfect cup of coffee.
All our coffees are single estate micro and nano lots from the tropical mountains of Espirito Santo, Brazil. We’re buying from trusted friends - we’ve experienced their production, environmental and employment standards for ourselves and we are proud to work with them.
Origin: Forno Grande
Varietal: Red Catuai
Pulped Natural Process: Late Harvest
85 points SCA I 1200-1400 MASL
Castelo - Espirito Santo/Brazil
Producer: Adelfo Casagrande
Adelfo was my landlord whilst I lived in Espirito Santo, and seems to be able to produce extraordinary coffees with his eyes closed. Maybe the beans pick up his sunny attitude, or maybe it’s the shade from his avocado trees, but they’re amazing. This is only his third year of producing specialty coffee, and he’s already scored 85+ SCA points with every harvest.
